About Our Mission

At Evangelist Luke Orthodox Mission Church, our mission is to be a faithful Orthodox Christian presence in the Mid-Hudson Valley, preserving the Gospel truth given to us by Our Lord, God, and Savior Jesus Christ.

Rooted in the unchanging tradition of the Church, centered on a life of prayer and service, we seek to live this mission in a way that is true to ancient Orthodoxy while attentive to the realities of the present age.

The Purpose of Our Mission

Everything begins and ends in prayer. The Divine Liturgy and the daily rhythm of worship form us, and service flows naturally from that life—care for one another, hospitality for guests, and practical help for those in need.

Orthodoxy is timeless, yet it meets every age. We carry the Church’s living tradition into today’s world with clarity and humility—preserving what is sacred while speaking plainly to hearts shaped by modern life in the Mid-Hudson Valley.

Our mission is a spiritual home where commitment can deepen and questions are welcome. Whether you’re looking for a more prayer-centered experience or taking first steps toward Christ, there is room to grow here.

Living the Spirit of Our Mission—We Are RISEN

The word RISEN expresses the spirit that guides our mission—both a reflection of Christ’s Resurrection and a pattern for daily Christian life. Each letter represents a way of living that keeps faith active, personal, and real.

Responsive—Remaining attentive to God and to one another; listening before acting and letting compassion shape our response.

Involved—Faith is participatory. We are called to share in worship, fellowship, and care for others—making Christ tangible in daily life.

Sincere—To live and worship with honesty of heart. We seek authenticity before Christ and one another, out of love and reverence for truth.

Embracing—The Church is open and welcoming. We receive others without judgment, offering friendship and patience as each person grows in Christ.

Nurturing—Faith matures through prayer and perseverance. We help one another grow in Christ so understanding and steadfastness take root and deepen over time.

How We Live Out RISEN in the Church

These values are not ideas we admire from afar—they shape how we worship, serve, and care for one another. At Evangelist Luke Orthodox Mission Church, RISEN is lived through real relationships, personal faith, and shared devotion.

Sincere

Our services are simple and sacred—no theatrics, no distractions—just the enduring beauty of Orthodox Christianity preserved through humble worship.

Rooted in the original Christian faith, our worship is sincere in both form and foundation—the same faith handed down by Christ through His Apostles.
